The Wrecking
of Camp Elsewhere
lyrics by jD.
performed by Logan
Come hear an old song that's not very long
Of a campsite that once set sail
The playa, it's said, never gives up its dead
But this evening they'll sing you a tale
Their crew of thirteen all high on caffeine
Were groggy and unprepared
And they all but yawned at the breaking of dawn
And the wrecking of Camp Elsewhere
O, the wrecking of Camp Elsewhere
The first mate she cried when she finally spied
The morning on the horizon
"We must set shade, for i am afraid
of the Sun, and it is a-risin'
Fire blazed in the sky, the crew shielded its eyes
They clearly needed assistance
Panicked and blind, they staked down their lines
And didn't measure the distance
One two and three, the last tensegrity
Was up with moments to spare
But the crew it was screwed for the boards were all skewed
The wrecking of Camp Elsewhere,
O, the wrecking of Camp Elsewhere
By one and by two each one of the crew
Fell victim to dehydration
The main cause of their blight was no pickles to bite
Now that was a grim situation
So not one was prepared for the quickening gale
That picked up out of the west
And suddenly the wind to all their chagrin
Came alive like a thing possessed
The storm it did roar as the canvas it tore
Their tents had hardly a prayer
They became kites in the failing eve's light
The wrecking of Camp Elsewhere
O, the wrecking of Camp Elsewhere
Hold on the mast, lash everything fast!
Close your eyes here comes a the dust devil
The scrambling resumed but the camp it was doomed
For not one of the boards were set level
Come the next day, twas all blown away
Scoured empty was the land
Not a soul to be found, nor camp on the ground
Only sky, the wind and the sand
Their camp sails on still, wherever it will
And hereby I do swear
To your shade do tend, or you will end
Up Like Camp Elsewhere!
