Though it clearly resides in the occlupanida, it has features that stand apart from every known occlupanid to date. Flexbile and pliant, kamptoconids are able to wrap themselves into a three-dimensional cone, at the center of which lies a triangular oral groove. To aid its peculiar grasping technique are two further adaptations: asymmetric palps that allow for one to insert into the other, aided by interlocking tubercles that protrude from its dorsal side.
