This unusual specimen is unlike any other Acutignathid thus far described. The sole specimen observed was found in a mixed species occlupanid colony in Calabasas, CA. <\/em>It stands out from other Acutignathids for its narrow body, and small tapered processes on its lateral edges. Of all occlupanids it is most similar to Vadosulpalpus crustulum<\/em>, and some researchers theorize that as M. modestus<\/em> has died out, V. crustulum<\/em> evolved to take over its environmental niche.\u00a0 Keen-eyed occlupanologists are exhorted to keep alert for any further specimens.
