In 2020 a field researcher from Portugal described in writing a unique occlupanid-like microsyntheran, one that attached itself to sausages and other meat products. Despite these tantalizing details, no specimen was sent, and the trail went cold. But a recent discovery in Vermont has confirmed that such meat-focused pseudocclupanids do exist, an exciting prospect. It was found attached to the twisted plastic end of a McKenzie brand sausage by field researcher A. Lehman, during the preparation of breakfast sandwiches at a local bakery. Currently it is the only described member of Family Carnistiriae<\/strong> (“meat icicle”), though it is hoped that our international correspondents in the Iberian Peninsula can help increase our knowledge of these mysterious entities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
