Discovered by researchers from the Ontario Syntherid Collection and Research (OSCR). Specimens of T. caudigera<\/em> were found among a colony of other archignathaceans, roaming loose near a bulk pet treats display. Some months later, another store of the same grocery chain was surveyed as part of a field expedition. A similar pet treat display was found, but the occlupanopsids collected displayed a minutely altered morphology to its oral groove, resulting subtly rounder oral hooks. This has been recorded as T. caudigera<\/em> var. dinotos<\/em><\/a> for future studies. It is unknown however if this occlupanopsid has other localized variations, or if this is a stable ecotype. All collected specimens bore large pale amicula<\/em><\/a> with red markings. Due to the delicate nature of these occlupanopsids, archivists from OSCR advise against removal of the amicula<\/em>.
