Hylotypus pseudophormus is a mimic of one of the most commonly encountered occlupanids on the planet, Palpatophora glyphodorsalis. Unlike many other occlupanopsids, this stiffly-fibroused faker has been found in the middle of North America, not just the boreal or antipodean regions. It was discovered by researcher Larva of the Tennessee Occlupanid Research Division (TORD) at a Whole Foods market in Eastern Tennessee, clutched to various packs of bagels. Several specimens were  observed with a faint waffled or woven pattern on one side. How this aides the occlupanopsid is unknown.  In addition, some specimens of H. pseudophormus have been observed with markings, but a greater survey will need to be undertaken to determine if there are any examples to rival P. glyphodorsalis at its most inscribed.
