- External morphology
Small tufts on anterior and ventral edges. Size 27.6 mm x 21.5 mm.
First spotted on a bag of Sauer’s Bakehouse Turkish bread in a Supamart IGA store in 2023. This species has only been found rarely. Closely mimicking Unidentia obtusamaxilla in both colors and form. Color morphs of red, orange, yellow, green, beige, and white have been observed. The paper macula found on all observed specimens further adds to the confusion when distinguishing Adiakritos mimus from their plastic counterparts. While physical contact is the best way to make a determination, care and discretion should be taken when handling specimens, especially if you have not yet purchased the host bread product to which it is attached. Small tuftlike processes are visible on anterior and ventral edges, in the same location as U. obtusamaxilla. Species discovered and described by Kurisu.
