External morphology

Concave lateral sides, and miniscule palps. 21.4 mm x 23 mm.

Specimens discovered by occlupanologist N. Juju, first on the floor of supermarkets, and later observed clutched to plastic strips binding leeks together in Rimouski, Quebec. While the leeks themselves are imported from Belgium, it has been determined that T. spurinux is local to the region. Despite their parasitism on leeks, their amicula seemed to possess unusual qualities. Through “photon-assisted ocular macroscopy”, N. Juju noticed that beneath some of the markings on its amicula was a second set of markings, one strongly associated with nuts instead of fresh produce. Are leeks merely a second host for T. spurinux, and if so, why does it need to conceal its nuciphilic nature? It is hoped further collected specimens can reveal more knowledge of this amicula-shifting haplognathid. Species discovered and described by N. Juju.
