While formulating occlupanid dichotomous keys in biology class, the students of Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC discovered several specimens of a curious green-hued occlupanid in their collection. Scrutinizing further, it was correctly noted that these specimens most closely resemble the acutignathid Migrugibba modestus, but with a shorter distal region. Like M. modestus, it is most commonly found nestled among diverse hoards of occlupanids. Excitingly, a few months later a second sighting of M. vulpis has been recorded from a small clattering of hoarded occlupanids in Oakland, CA. It is possible that M. vulpis does not attach itself to a host for a great portion of its life cycle, but instead sustains itself via the proximity of other occlupanids, in a form of symbiotic commensalism. Clearly more socio-syntheric studies of this occlupanid will need to be undertaken, once that branch of study has been invented.
Species described by the students of Sidwell Friends School, in honor of their vulpine mascot.
